Welcome to The Thumb Area Tourism Council

The Thumb Area Tourism Council, Inc. (TATC) began with the vision to increase visibility of the tourism industry within Michigan's Thumb region by developing a central tourism resource and destination marketing organization.  This regional representation includes the counties of Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola. 

TATC is an independent, nonprofit corporation sponsored by Tuscola 2011, Inc., an established 501(c) nonprofit corporation.

Mission Statement 

The purpose of the Thumb Area Tourism Council, Inc. is to provide a regional representation in the promotion of tourism, cultural, recreational and environmental, and entertainment activities in Michigan's Thumb region.

Following the organization's mission statement, TATC's goal is to promote the Thumb area as a travel destination rich in natural scenic beauty, strong cultural heritage, outdoor recreation, and other community activities and events.  Promotional efforts will include local, statewide, regional and national marketing efforts, community involvement and sponsorships, tourism event participation, industry memberships, and much more.  In addition, TATC is hopeful that these promotional efforts will also lead to a rise in economic development for the area with the influx of new visitors and possibly new residents. 

To facilitate these promotional efforts, TATC developed this member-sponsored Web site as a central representation of over 1,500 businesses and organizations from the area.  This site offers travelers the resources and tools to make their Thumb vacation enjoyable and economical.  Whether travelers are looking for a home away from home for a week-long vacation or simply somewhere to rest their head for an evening after a day of boating on Lake Huron, they'll find what they need at the TATC Web site.
