Moving a Small ‘Bedroom’ Community into the Future
In the southwest corner of Tuscola County you’ll find a quaint, small town called Millington. It’s considered the gateway to the Thumb Area along the Heritage Route of M-15. Known many years for manufacturing refrigerated truck bodies and automotive parts, today they are known as the Antique Capital of the Thumb Area.
Established in 1956, the Millington Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to supporting the advancement of commercial, industrial, civic, and general business interests of Millington and its trade area. This nonprofit organization is made up of local volunteers from the community and area businesses. Together they focus on building a richer life for residents, business owners, and visitors alike. They host an annual Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble, which raises funds to support their annual Christmas in the Village. Click here to view upcoming events.
Occasionally, the Chamber will host one-time, one-of-a-kind events. In 2016, the Chamber brought a Wildlife Safari to the Millington Arbela District Library.
Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday at the Millington Village Council Chambers on State Street at 8 a.m.
When visiting Millington, be sure to support their Chamber members. Click here for a list of their current members.
Featured in the photo above is Cindy from Cardinal Pizza, winner of the 2016 Summer Festival Sandwich Contest. She is displaying the sandwich that garnered her the award. The contest was sponsored by the Millington Chamber during the town’s annual Old Fashioned Summer Festival.
The image below is part of a mural project being worked on by local artists and the GFWC Millington Junior Women’s Club. The mural is expected to replace an old mural that was a landmark in downtown Millington for many years. The new mural is expected to be on display in 2017.
Whether you’re a resident, business, or visitor, don’t become one of the area’s antiques but instead be sure to advance with them today by calling (989) 871-3948 or visit them online. You can also follow them on Facebook.
